A Letter from our Founder 💌
Hi friends,
Ten years ago, I sold my very first Stewart Simmons dress — and when I look back at where it all started, I'm filled with the kind of gratitude that's hard to put into words.
The idea behind Stewart Simmons began with a feeling; one I couldn't quite name until I was sitting in Doak Campbell Stadium on a perfect fall Saturday, surrounded by garnet and gold, thinking about how much I loved being part of it all. The tailgates. The traditions. The way total strangers become family the moment they're cheering for the same team.
It was a sense of community, of belonging.
As a Florida State alumna, I wanted pieces in my wardrobe that felt like home. Not just for game days back in Tallahassee, but for the everyday moments when I still wanted to carry that spirit with me. But I could never find clothes that felt true to my style and roots—things that were confident, elevated and feminine. Thoughtful pieces I was actually excited to wear.
So, in 2016, I made a decision that was exciting but, quite honestly, terrifying. I walked away from a career in finance—one I had worked hard to build—because I kept coming back to that feeling in the stands, and I couldn't find a single thing in my closet that captured it.
The early days were humbling. I can still picture my first trade show booth—way too big for what I had, way too small for what I was hoping would happen. I questioned myself constantly. But every woman who stopped, picked something up, and said "this is exactly what I've been looking for"—that was enough to keep going.
Ten years later, I’m incredibly proud of what this community has built together. We’ve redefined what game day looks like for women—creating pieces that feel just as confident, elevated, and spirited as the fans wearing them.
What started with one dress has grown into a brand carried in hundreds of stores across the country, representing fans from over 50 universities. And, together, we’ve given back over $1.7 million to the colleges and universities that shaped us.
This brand was never just about clothing. It was about the woman who brings her daughter to her first college football game, or who finds a little piece of home she can wear everywhere.
Style is how you tell your story — and I am so honored that so many of you have let us be a part of yours.
To every fan who wore our pieces on game day, every retailer who believed in us early and every team member who poured their heart into this dream: thank you. This milestone belongs to all of us.
Here's to the next ten.
With so much love and gratitude,
Shena Simmons
